Hi, I’m a Tulsa family and wedding photographer, and if you’re new here—my goal is always the same: to document your real moments in a way that feels effortless, emotional, and true to your family.

This session from early fall 2024 at Haikey Creek Park is one I still think about often—not because it was perfectly styled or posed, but because it was completely them.

A Messy, Meaningful Evening

We met in the evening with a simple idea: let a mom and her four-year-old son paint together outside. No pressure. No expectations. Just space to play.

At first, he was a little unsure—staying close to his mom, taking it all in. You could tell right away he was her boy. The kind that finds comfort just being near her.

But slowly, like it always does when you give kids time, it shifted.

A little paint on the brush turned into paint on the sheet…

Then paint on hands…

And before long—paint on faces, laughter, and zero hesitation.

That’s the sweet spot.

Why I Don’t Force Moments (And Why It Matters)

This is exactly why I don’t walk into sessions trying to control every second.

Instead of directing heavily, I documented what naturally unfolded—and added just enough environment to support it (yes, even something as simple as playing Disney music in the background can change everything for a child).

Because when kids feel safe and unhurried, you don’t have to manufacture connection.

You get the real thing:

The way he kept glancing at his mom for reassurance

The way she leaned into his pace instead of rushing him

The way joy showed up after he had time to settle

Those are the moments that actually matter years from now.

The Beauty of Letting It Be Imperfect

If you’re worried about your kids being “too shy” or “too wild” for photos—this is your reminder that neither is a problem.

This session was messy.

There was paint everywhere.

Nothing about it was “perfect.”

And yet—it told a story.

The kind of story that feels alive when you look back on it.

Because perfection doesn’t create connection. Presence does.

Why I Approach Mini Sessions Differently

I don’t offer traditional, styled mini session days anymore—and that shift was intentional.

I’ve found that pre-designed setups and tight time slots don’t always leave room for what matters most: your family being fully themselves.

Instead, I offer a more flexible option for shorter sessions that still feel natural and unforced. That means we can keep things simple, follow your child’s pace, and create something that actually reflects your connection—not just a setup.

Because at the end of the day, I’m not here to recreate the same photos over and over. I’m here to document you.

Thinking About Your Own Family Session?

If you’re in Tulsa and want photos that feel more like memories and less like a photoshoot, I’d love to help you plan something that fits your family naturally—whether that’s at a park, in your backyard, or doing something your kids already love.

You don’t need perfect behavior.

You don’t need a perfectly planned setup.

You just need to show up—and I’ll take care of the rest.
